DPF Cleaning – Newton Abbot

What is a DPF, and what does it do?

A diesel particulate filter, or DPF for short, removes the harmful particles of soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine to prevent them from being released into the atmosphere.

There are several DPF design variants, and some are so efficient that they are almost 100% effective, but problems occur when there is a blockage, and this can present itself in several ways:

• The engine power appears to be reduced
• Fuel consumption is increasing
• The stop-start function does not work properly
• There is an excess of exhaust smoke
• There is a distinctive smell of diesel
